Federica, how old are you? 28 What nickname your friends call you? In Milan, they call me Fodò or Moretti, in Modena (my hometown) Fò. Where are you right now? On the sofà of my apartment in Milan, with a glass of wine in front of my laptop. Have you always been an hat designer? No, I studied photogarphy. The hats thing started by chance. I used to create hats for me, and some journalists noticed them. Where do you work? At Studio Morinn (a sort of factory that take name from its founders Federica Moretti and Ilaria Innocenti), in Via Sciesa 9, Milan. I share the space with 7 friends, they are grafic designers, photographers and interior designers. With them, six years ago, I started my adventure, and now I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. One thing that you can’t stand of your mates? Nothing, even their defects are essential for me. We work together in a perfect balanced situation. And what they can’t stand of you? I have thousands of imperfections, but they tolerate them, I hope : ) What music do you listen to while working? The playlist of the photographer and graphic designer. What is on your Spring-Summer 2012 inspirational board? Wrinkles, “damaged” hats. I need about 8 hours to make a new “used” hat. What do you like of winter time? I love winter time! I like layering, wrapping up until I find the ideal temperature. I hate when it’s too warm because I cannot take off my skin. What do you have in your fridge? Lemon tea and yoghurt. What makes you laugh? Many things. What makes you cry? Many things. What is happiness? The small satisfactios achieved in work, having great parents, a few friends to count on, a boyfriend that drives me mad, and a puppy just arrived in our home. Hai sempre fatto la designer di cappelli? No, ho studiato fotografia e quello doveva essere il mio lavoro. Quello dei cappelli è un lavoro nato per caso, creavo copricapo per me e sono stata notata.
Dove lavori? Allo Studio Morinn, (una sorta di factory che prende il nome dal cognome delle fondatrici Federica Moretti e Ilaria Innocenti) in Via Sciesa 9 a Milano. Condivido lo spazio con altri 7 creativi, amici, grafici, fotografi, designer. Con loro, 6 anni fa, è iniziata la mia avventura, e non potrei immaginarmi da nessuna altra parte. Il confronto con loro è indispensabile, se me ne privassi, a risentirne sarebbero i miei cappelli.
Cosa non sopporti dei tuoi “coinquilini”? Niente, anche i loro difetti sono indispensabili. Tra noi si è creato un equilibrio essenziale.
E loro di te? Ho mille difetti, ma la stima e l’appoggio sono reciproci.
Che musica ascolti mentre disegni? Non ho grandi esigenze. La musica è uguale per tutti, si alternano le Playlist del fotografo e del grafico.
Cosa c’è sul tuo inspirational board della prossima PE 2012? Stropicciature – il cappello distrutto! Ovviamente è finzione, per fare un cappello “rotto” ci vogliono quasi 8 ore, ma escono dallo studio e sembrano già usati da altri. Ho utilizzato paglie piegate, tessuti in carta accartocciati e nastri con il taglio a vivo già rovinati.
Cosa ti piace dell’inverno? Io adoro l’inverno, mi piacciono gli strati, il poterti coprire fino a raggiungere la temperatura ideale. Odio il caldo perché la pelle non posso toglierla … J ahahahah
Che cos’hai in frigorifero? Se guardo adesso … niente. Solo tè al limone e yogurt, quelli ci sono sempre.
Che cosa ti fa ridere? Tante cose fortunatamente.
Cosa ti fa piangere? La stessa risposta di prima va bene? Tante cose fortunatamente.
La tua idea di felicità? Per il momento a rendermi felice sono le piccole soddisfazioni che, giorno dopo giorno, ottengo nel lavoro, due genitori super, pochi amici su cui poter contare, un fidanzato che mi fa arrabbiare e un cane in arrivo.
